Hi, I’m Emily.

I help game studios realize their creative vision with practical solutions.

My Story

I began my career as an artist and quickly noticed a need for better processes in development. Given my natural pattern-recognition and drive for problem-solving, I switched my focus to production in order to improve systems and empower teams to deliver their best work.

I was drawn to video game development early on due to the combination of creativity and logic involved in the creation of games. Once I dove into production, I fell in love with both the process and the people and decided there’s no place I’d rather be than working with a passionate team of game developers.

Now, I specialize in Art Production for video games by applying my own creative background with my project management experience, balancing creative thinking with practical application in order to deliver best-selling games.

Mission & Values

I specialize in art production for video games, helping individuals and businesses turn ideas into results. Whether I’m coaching teams in Agile best practices, scheduling sprints and project milestones, or assessing project risks, I’m driven by creativity, growth, and problem-solving.

My ultimate goal is to empower teams to deliver their best work. During my experience with both indie and AAA studios, I’ve developed skills in:

  • Project and Pipeline Management

  • Resource and Budget Allocation

  • Cross-Disciplinary Communication

  • Conflict Resolution and Leadership

  • Creative and Technical Literacy

What sets me apart is my commitment to combining creativity with practical solutions. I believe great work happens when strong ideas meet thoughtful execution.

Outside of work, I enjoy kickboxing, rock climbing, animation, and music.

Recomendations

It was my pleasure to work with Emily! Her mindset was always - team first. She knew everyone’s strengths and was always there if we needed to quickly reprioritize our tasks.
She also always reached out with questions and was very involved in understanding our art pipeline.
Her ability to facilitate cross department collaboration and keep everyone organized, when the team faced major changes to the daily workflow, was a key to our success.
Most importantly she was always approachable and human.

Without Emily “Crystal Call” would not have reached the final quality it managed. Her ability to bring the team together, keep us on track and on time as well as mediating any issues we had on the team during production was invaluable. Any project would be lucky to have her!

Hobbies

Beyond game development, I enjoy a wide variety of hobbies, including kickboxing, rock climbing, and writing.

I continue to create my own art, and especially enjoy expanding my skillset specifically for game art. My portfolio is available here: https://www.artstation.com/emwhitman.

Additionally, I grew up in a house full of music and continue to play guitar and piano. I also love building and creating new things, especially when it involves repurposing old materials or fixing up outdated items to better suit modern needs. I have installed backlit screens in Gameboy systems and custom painted the shells, I wired Bluetooth boomboxes in vintage suitcases, and I currently run an Etsy shop that sells jewelry made from old China plates.
